Baby death trial hears of paramedic's 'difficulties getting information'
Paramedics had “difficulties” getting precise information from the father of a nine-week-old baby found lifeless in his cot, a murder trial heard.
Luke Morgan was questioned by emergency staff about the build-up to finding baby Tyler collapsed at the family home in Burntwood but his answers were not clear, Stafford Crown Court heard.
A student paramedic said West Midlands Ambulance Service received a 999 call from the couple at 2.42am on April 29, 2014, and she and a colleague arrived at the Sunnymead Road flat nine minutes later.
Asked by prosecutor Andrew Smith, QC, about the parents, she said they had argued about how long it had taken the father to wake up the mother.
The student paramedic had tried to get information about what may have caused the child to go into cardiac arrest.
“But it was quite a difficult conversation to have,” she said. “He didn’t have any times for us.”
Morgan, 26, and Cole, 22, of Byron Close, Burntwood, deny murder, manslaughter, causing or allowing an infant’s death and child cruelty.
The trial continues.
