Man awaiting sentence over stabbing cousin to death in drunken rage
A man who stabbed his cousin to death during a petty dispute was facing a life sentence today after being convicted of murder.
Father of three Glen Elvin, aged 26, stormed out of the dock and could be heard loudly protesting his innocence as he went down the steps to the cells.
Relatives of the victim, who were in the public gallery, burst into tears as the Wolverhampton Crown Court jury delivered its unanimous verdict yesterday following three hours of deliberation.
CCTV footage showed Elvin, who will be sentenced today, armed with a knife chasing 28-year-old Christopher Harm across a car park in Engine Lane, Brierley Hill, during the early hours of October 13.
When his cousin stopped and turned towards him the defendant plunged the blade into his chest with such force it pierced his heart.
Mr Harm died at the scene despite the best efforts of paramedics and police officers to save him.
Ironically the fatal confrontation only happened because Elvin had got the victim a job and the pair were travelling – and sleeping – in a VW van with two colleagues while driving putting up posters.

Brierley Hill murder accused: 'I didn’t mean to kill my cousin'
The foursome went drinking in Brierley Hill and the cousins returned drunk to the vehicle where their workmates – Alex Marshall and Alex Henderson – were asleep.
Mr Marshall recalled the pair bickering until he told them to get out of the van.
Elvin grabbed a knife and stabbed his cousin.
The defendant, from Stanley, County Durham, admitted delivering the fatal blow but insisted he had not meant to kill his cousin.
He told the jury: “I know in my head and my heart that I didn’t intend this.”
