Walsall man arrested on suspicion of murder after teen stabbed in Birmingham
A Walsall man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a 16-year-old was stabbed to death in Birmingham.
The 19-year-old is currently in police custody for questioning as part of the investigation into the fatal stabbing of Abdullah Muhammad in Herbert Road, Small Heath, at around 8pm on February 20.
The suspect, from Aldridge, was arrested at around 1pm on Monday.
Despite the best efforts of medics, Abdullah was pronounced dead at the scene. Specialist officers continue to support Abdullah’s family .
Abdullah was the second of three fatal stabbings in Birmingham in the space of two weeks.
Detective Chief Inspector Edward Foster, from the force’s homicide team, said: “My thought remains with Abdullah’s family who are devastated by his tragic and untimely death. They have been kept fully updated with this development.
“This arrest is a significant step forward in our investigation and we’re doing all we can to bring those responsible to justice.
“We need answers for Abdullah’s family, friends and the wider community who are saddened and shocked at the loss of another young life.
“I continue to appeal to anyone who has any information and has not yet come forward to contact us at the earliest opportunity.”
