The 16-year-old was detained this morning and is currently in West Midlands Police custody.

It is alleged the boy was involved in a disorder at around 2pm on February 25 in Norwood Road, Bordesley Green, which ended with Hazrat suffering a fatal stab wound.

Another 16-year-old boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, has already been charged by West Midlands Police with Hazrat’s murder and has been remanded into a young offenders institute while the case progresses through court.

And the second 16-year-old from Birmingham, who was arrested on suspicion of murder on March 6, was initially bailed but has since been released without charge.

Detective Inspector Michelle Allen from the force’s homicide team, said: “There is a lot of work going on to get to the bottom of what happened and to identify the people responsible for Hazrat’s death.

“My team continue to trawl through a significant amount of CCTV material from the night and I would ask that anyone with information about what happened, and has not yet contacted us, to please get in touch urgently.

“If anyone has suspicions about who may have been involved, perhaps they’re overhead someone talking about what happened, they can speak to us in confidence or call Crimestoppers anonymously.

“My thoughts remain with Hazrat’s family who are devastated by this senseless act…we’re doing all we can to bring those responsible to justice.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact West Midlands Police via Live Chat at west-midlands.police.uk between 8am and midnight, or call 101 anytime quoting log number 1294 from 25 February. Alternatively, contact the charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
