Intruder breaks into Walsall home overnight
An intruder broke into a Walsall home overnight before being scared off by a house alarm.
At around 3.30am this morning a resident of Frampton Way, Pheasey, was woken by his house alarm going off.
When he went downstairs he saw that an intruder had been in the house, having snapped the lock in a rear uPVC door to gain entry.
A spokesman for West Midlands Police said: "The standard locks normally supplied with uPVC doors are vulnerable to being snapped in two, giving offenders easy access to the door locking system and then into your home.
"An easy and cost-effective way to improve your security is to replace these locks with anti-snap locks that meet British Standard TS007, three star standard. If you have an intruder alarm, part set it to cover living areas when you go to bed."
