Balvinder Sangha, 46, of Old House Lane, Romsley, near Halesowen, and Emily Wilkinson, 21 of Chestnut Drive, Hagley, near Stourbridge, both appeared at Worcester Crown Court on Monday.

A silver Vauxhall Corsa, a silver Ford Transit and a cyclist were involved in a collision on Bromsgrove Road, Romsley, on June 15, 2017.

The 59-year-old cyclist, David "Ross" Fawthrop, of Barnt Green, died at the scene.

Sangha, who was the driver of the Transit van, and Wilkinson, the driver of the Corsa, were both located at the scene.

They were later charged for causing death by careless driving.

Both defendants were found guilty following an eight day trial.

Sangha was sentenced to 12 months in prison with a three year driving disqualification, and Wilkinson was jailed for six months and given a two year driving ban.

Investigating officer, PC Dan Barker, from West Mercia Police, said: "This was a tragic incident to investigate, and our thoughts go out to David's family at this time.

"West Mercia Police is committed to improving road safety and keeping the roads safe for everyone, and we will investigate those who drive without the due care and attention required, to ensure that every effort is made to bring offenders to justice."
