Burglars broke into a Walsall home by snapping the lock in a back door.

The thieves stole a Range Rover from the driveway in Old Oak Close, Aldridge, after taking the keys from inside the house.

The vehicle has since been recovered after the burglary, which happened between 11pm on Thursday and 6.20am on Friday.

Kevin Pitt, police, engagement and consultation officer for Walsall, urged people to buy locks with a minimum three-star rating.

He said: "The standard 'Euro profile' locks commonly fitted to UPVC doors are unfortunately vulnerable to being snapped, facilitating their easy removal from the door and giving access to the locking system.

"Think about improving your home security by replacing standard locks with barrels that meet British Standard TS007 with three-star rating."
