Reward offered as Land Rover stolen from outside pub with 'priceless' horse equipment inside
A reward has been offered after thieves stole a Land Rover full of horse dentistry equipment from outside a rural pub.
Mat Carter chased his car in vain as it was taken by the crooks yesterday and is now appealing for help recovering the "irreplaceable" equipment stored inside.
The vehicle, which is metallic grey and has the number plate M1 EDT, was taken from outside the Six Ashes Pub between Bridgnorth and Stourbridge at around 5.30pm.
Mr Carter, 43 and from near where the incident happened, has put up a "substantial" reward for the return of the equipment, which includes irreplaceable bespoke items which have been collected over the more than 20 years that he has been working as an equine dental technician.
Mr Carter had been in the pub off the A458 when the Land Rover Discovery 4 was taken and gave chase in an attempt to catch the thief.
He explained how one man drove the car off after breaking in by smashing a window, while two other people sped off in a white Skoda.
He said: "I was in the pub, had a pint and I went to go out for a cigarette and just as I got to the door I heard the car alarm.
"It went off three times and I went out and saw there was someone in my car on the driver's side with the window smashed.
"As I crossed the road he reversed back, I caught up with it and was actually at the back of the car and he sped off over the grass verge.
"Some other guys then went off in a white Skoda."
Chase
Mr Carter managed to flag down another car and they gave chase but lost the vehicle, which he believes was headed towards Kidderminster.
He said: "I heard it went through the traffic lights on the road and barged cars out of the way, towards Kidderminster."
Mr Carter said he was devastated at the loss of his equipment.
He said: "I have been practising for over 20 years, I have got 20 years worth of kit in the back and most of it is irreplaceable."
Mr Carter, whose business is called Midland Equine Dental Services, also had his appointment book in the car and has urged his customers to contact him to ensure he can attend bookings.
He is offering a "substantial reward" for the return of the items and urged anyone with information to get in touch with him on 07799 394445.
People with information can also contact the police on 101.
