The 24-year-old woman and 28-year-old man arrested on suspicion of manslaughter by gross negligence following a house fire have been released under investigation while inquiries continue.

The man and woman had been bailed with conditions following their arrests on February 8

But Staffordshire Police say detectives have now released the pair from those conditions.

Inquiries continue into the cause of the fire which led to the tragic deaths of four children in Sycamore Lane, Highfields, on February 5.

Riley Holt, aged eight, Keegan Unitt, six, Tilly Rose Unitt, four, and Olly Unitt, three, died in the fire.

Another sibling two-year-old Jack survived the tragedy alongside his 24-year-old mother Natalie Unitt and her 28-year-old partner Chris Moulton, who jumped out of a first-floor window.

Detective Inspector Alan Lyford, of Staffordshire Police, said: “This is a complex investigation and work continues to establish the circumstances of exactly what happened.

“We do appreciate there is a continuing demand for answers, but our primary aim remains to understand exactly what happened in this tragic fire and we will update as soon as we are able to.”

“We want to thank the community for their patience and support while we continue to investigate.”

A fundraising event has raised £1,300 for the family of the four children at the weekend.
