Acid fears after substance thrown at parents and children from car

Yobs threw an unknown liquid at parents and children near a school in Lower Gornal, sparking fears it could have been 'acid'.

The incident took place on Wednesday evening on Ruiton Street.

People claimed on social media that the liquid was aimed at crowd including children. It is believed they were walking home from a disco at Roberts Primary School, on Roberts Street.

West Midlands Police spokesman Mike Woods said: "Police are investigating after a man is believed to have had an unknown substance thrown at him from a passing car in Ruiton Street, Dudley shortly after 8pm yesterday."

One Facebook user wrote: "Throwing unknown liquid from a bottle out of window at adults and children coming from school disco!?

"Ruiton Street heading towards Roberts Street."

Gornal councillor Anne Millward said: "These people need to be caught, it could have been acid thrown out the vehicle. This is totally unacceptable."
