Inquest opens on woman allegedly killed by son in Bilston
An inquest has opened into the death of a Bilston mother who was allegedly murdered by her son.
Black Country Coroners Court opened an inquest into the death of 68-year-old Mary Page, who was found dead at her home in James Street on February 1.
The five-minute hearing heard that Mary’s son, Matthew Page, had been charged with her murder after her body was found in the bedroom of the house.
Senior coroner Zafar Siddique said: “Her son Matthew Page attended the police station, accompanied by her other son, where an allegation was made he had killed his mother the previous night.
“She was located in the bedroom at the address and despite resuscitation attempts she was pronounced dead shortly after 6pm that day.
“Mr Page was charged with her murder. A forensic post mortem was carried out and the cause of death is to be ascertained.”
West Midlands Police had previously said Mrs Page had suffered a head injury.
Mr Siddique adjourned the hearing until criminal proceedings had taken place and offered his condolences to the family.
