Thieves steal car keys during Wednesbury home robbery

Thieves made off with car keys after breaking into a house in Wednesbury.

Three burglars broke a lock at the back of the property in Shaftesbury Road before fleeing with the keys to a Seat Ibiza.

However the car was not stolen during the incident which unfolded at around 3.40am on Friday.

An anonymous post shared by the Wednesbury Updates Facebook page, believed to be from the homeowners, said: "Unfortunately the thieves that were hanging around our car last night in Shaftesbury Road came back.

"They broke into the house and took the car keys.

"So scary to know someone is in your house – they really don't know the pain and upset they cause."

A spokesman for West Midlands Police said: "Police are investigating reports of a robbery at a house in Shaftesbury Road, Wednesbury at 3.40am yesterday morning.

"Three people gained access by breaking a lock at the back of the house before fleeing with the keys to a Seat Ibiza, however the car was not taken."

Anyone with information about the robbery is asked to call officers on 101, quoting incident number 20SW/44799A/19.
