Man charged after teenager stabbed in Smethwick

A man has been charged with wounding after a teenager was stabbed in Smethwick.

Asaduz Zaman, of Smethwick, has also been charged with threatening a person with a bladed article after a 16-year-old boy was stabbed in the stomach on Sunday.

The incident happened on Oxford Road, not far from The Hawthorns.

His condition is not to believed to be life threatening.

Emergency services, including a Midlands Air Ambulance, rushed to the scene after the attack.

A spokesman for West Midlands Police said: “Officers investigating the stabbing of a 16-year-old boy in Oxford Road, Smethwick have charged a man.

“Asaduz Zaman of Oxford Road, Smethwick was arrested shortly after the incident on Sunday.

“The 40-year-old was charged with wounding and threatening a person with a bladed object.

“He was remanded into custody until he next appears at Dudley Magistrates' Court on Tuesday 19 March.

“The 16-year-old boy remains in hospital in a stable condition.”
