Gage Wilkes and Callum Ball appeared at Walsall Magistrates' Court this morning charged in connection with the incident that happened on Friday in Coalway Road.

Wilkes, 20, of Croxdene Avenue in Bloxwich, denied making off without payment, aggravated vehicle taking, and attempting to cause GBH.

Ball, 19, of Hall Green Street, Wolverhampton, denied aggravated vehicle taking.

Officers were said to have tried to approach the stolen green Skoda Octavia in Coalway Road, which was thought to have been used in two bilkings earlier that day, but it drove off and hit one officer, injuring his leg.

Wilkes was remanded in custody while Ball was bailed with conditions and the pair are due at Wolverhampton Crown Court on March 18.
