Man left with serious head injury after Lichfield attack

A man was left with a serious head injury after being attacked by two men in Lichfield.

The 21-year-old victim was punched to the face causing him to fall backwards, banging his head on the ground, in the assault in the Bird Street/Bore Street area.

The victim, who is from the city, is in hospital receiving treatment after the attack at around 3am yesterday.

His attackers are described as a white male, 6ft 2ins tall, of stocky build, with brown hair which appears to be shaved at the back and sides and wearing a blue, black and white checked shirt.

The second man is described as shorter and slimmer than the other, with short dark hair also shaved at the back and sides and wearing a blue, black and white checked shirt.

Detective Constable Scott Martin, of Staffordshire Police, said: “We’re appealing for anyone with information to come forward and help us. This was a serious and unprovoked assault and we know there were lots of people about at that time who may have seen something.”
