Appeal to find owner of stolen war medals
Police are searching for the owner of stolen First World War medals believed to have been awarded to an officer from Staffordshire.
The medals were recovered by police in Birmingham yesterday and are thought to have been taken during a house burglary.
Officers are unsure where or when they were taken but they are believed to have been stolen before Wednesday.
West Mercia Police refused to say how or where in Birmingham the medals were discovered, but said they believe they were issued to an officer from Staffordshire who served in the Middlesex Regiment between 1915 and 1916.
They are now thought to belong to someone living in either North Worcestershire, Birmingham or Staffordshire.
The medals recovered were the British War Medal for service in the First World War, the Star Medal for service in Europe between 1914 and 1915 and the Victory Medal.
If you recognise the items or believe you may know who they belong to, call Detective Constable Mark Fletcher at West Mercia Police on 101 quoting incident number 22/114516/18.
A 34 year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of burglary and was remanded in custody.
