Teenagers arrested after machete attack in Birmingham

Two teenagers have been arrested after carjackers armed with machetes attacked a woman in a Birmingham car park.

They were detained following a police pursuit on the A45 in Yardley at around 8pm on Saturday, January 12.

The carjacking happened in Bradford Street, Digbeth , on Friday, January 11, and left a woman with cuts to her hands.

Officers of West Midlands Police tweeted on Saturday night: “Short pursuit on the A45, Yardley, earlier with this Audi A6 - stolen in a carjacking yesterday. The female had been threatened with machetes.

"They weren’t so ‘brave’ today and very quickly found themselves stuck. Two in custody.”

West Midlands Police said in a statement: "Two teenagers have been arrested after police pursued an Audi which had been stolen in a carjacking.

"Officers spotted the Audi on Coventry Road in Yardley at around 4.10pm yesterday (12 January).

"It had been stolen from a woman in Digbeth the day before by two men armed with machetes.

"After a short pursuit the Audi collided with another car and two boys both aged 16 were arrested and remain in police custody this morning.

"No-one was injured and police enquiries are ongoing."
