A man has appeared in court charged with the murder of his former partner June Jones in West Bromwich.

Michael Foran, aged 32, spoke only to confirm his name, date of birth and address during the short hearing at Walsall Magistrates' today.

It is alleged that at some point between December 16 and December 31 he murdered 33-year-old Miss Jones.

She was found dead at her flat in Wyndmill Crescent, on the Charlemont Farm estate, on New Years Eve.

Foran, who is an Irish national, was dressed in a grey t-shirt and grey tracksuit bottoms when he appeared at court this morning.

District Judge David Webster remanded him in custody to next appear before Wolverhampton Crown Court on January 9 where he is expected to enter a plea.
