Chingford Road investigation: Elderly woman's body found in Kingstanding
A house in Birmingham has been cordoned off after a elderly woman's body was found.
Police and ambulances were called to a home on Chingford Road last night and a 57-year-old man has since been arrested.
Forensics have been seen scouring the area this morning with the cause of death currently unknown.
A West Midlands Police spokesperson said: "Police are investigating after an elderly woman was found dead at an address in Kingstanding, yesterday evening.
"Officers were called to a property in Chingford Road after the body was discovered by ambulance service colleagues at around 6.45pm.
"The death of the woman, aged in her 90s, is currently being treated as unexplained and a post mortem will take place in due course.
"A 57-year old man, who is believed to be known to the woman, has been arrested in connection with her death and remains in police custody this morning as enquiries continue."
One ambulance, a paramedic officer and a senior paramedic were sent to the scene last night.
A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: “On arrival, crews discovered one patient, an elderly woman.
“Unfortunately, it quickly became apparent nothing could be done to save her and she was confirmed dead at the scene.”
