Michael Foran will appear before Walsall Magistrates Court on Monday, accused of killing 33-year-old Miss Jones, who was found dead at her flat in Wyndmill Crescent, on December 31.

Foran, aged 32 and of no fixed address, was arrested in Liverpool on Saturday afternoon and transferred to the West Midlands for questioning.

A 34-year-old man has already been charged with assisting an offender in the case.

Detective Inspector Warren Hines, from the force's homicide department, said: "This is a significant step forward in our enquiries.

"I would like to thank the public and media for their support in this investigation and I would continue to urge anyone with information to come forward."

On Saturday Keith O'Dwyer, aged 34, of Beaconview Road, West Bromwich, appeared at Walsall Magistrates Court, charged with "intent to impede the apprehension" of the murder suspect.

He was remanded into police custody and will appear at Wolverhampton Crown Court on January 10. He is expected to enter a not guilty plea.

Miss Jones had been reported missing by her sister on Boxing Day. After her body was discovered on New Year's Eve, police said there was evidence of a "sustained and brutal assault with a weapon".
