23,000 illegal cigarettes seized from Darlaston shop
Thousands of illegal cigarettes have been seized from a shop in Darlaston.
A total of 23,000 cigarettes, along with a large quantity of tobacco, were hauled away by Walsall Trading Standards officers yesterday.
The trading standards Twitter account, named Savvy Shopper, tweeted a photo of the find, saying: "How many illegal cigarettes seized from one Darlaston store by Walsall Trading Standards today? Just the 23,000 (and some baccy too)!
"If you sell it, we'll be seeing you soon.
"Know where it's sold? Let us know anonymously on 03454 040506."
It is not known which shop the cigarettes were seized from, or where in Darlaston they were discovered.
A spokesman for the trading standards team declined to give any further information, as the investigation is still ongoing.
