Bogus officers scam elderly in Walsall
Bogus police officers are targeting elderly people in an attempt to get their bank details.
Between New Year's Eve and New Year's Day police received four calls from members of the public in Walsall stating they had been called by a man who said he was a police officer and requested bank card details as they were required for an investigation.
In one case the victim gave the caller her PIN numbers and then handed her bank cards to an Asian man later on.
All the reports police have received so far come from the Park Hall/Paddock area and from older people. The police are currently investigating these reports.
A spokesman for West Midlands Police said: "Please note that the police will never call asking for bank account details or for you to hand over your bank cards or other documents.
"If you receive such a call please contact us via Live Chat at west-midlands.police.uk between 8am to midnight or call 101 anytime."
