A total of 167 properties were affected by the power cut in the area from around 3pm yesterday.

But their work was delayed after staff were forced to leave the site when they were threatened, say Western Power Distribution.

The workers left the site in Laurel Lane at 6.20pm and returned with the police to continue the work at around 8pm.

And the workers are back today to complete a permanent repair.

A spokesman for Western Power Distribution said: "The issue was with a low voltage mains volt and 167 customers were affected in total.

"We did have some issues with members of the public threatening our staff where we had to leave the site temporarily and return with the police.

"All but two customers were were restored in five hours and the final two were restored within seven hours.

"A permanent repair is being completed today."

A spokeswoman for West Midlands Police said: "Police were called to Laurel Lane, Halesowen, around 8.30pm last night after a workman was threatened by a member of the public. Enquiries are ongoing."
