His sister and a woman friend, who joined in the attack shouting 'kill him, kill him' while kicking the man after he had been knocked to the ground and hurled a pot plant through a window, were each locked up for 12 months.

Shaun Lloyd travelled to the Rowley Regis address of Clifford Sargent followed by Rebecca Lloyd and Kay Crampton in a second car, Wolverhampton Crown Court was told.

The trio were involved in a domestic tangle with some of those in the house and when Mr Sargent saw the man get out and walk towards the house armed with a steering lock.

He opened a bedroom window to speak to him and was told: 'I'm coming in.'

Mr Sargent, who has a pacemaker, realised the front door was not locked and rushed downstairs where he was dragged outside by Shaun Lloyd before he could be stopped, said Mr Peter McCartney, prosecuting.

The 32-year-old battered the victim to the ground with a flurry of blows to the head from the wheel brace before his sister and Crampton, both 31, got involved in the fracas.

They repeatedly kicked defenceless Mr Sargent who pleaded with them to stop while the brother continued to hit him and the three attackers chanted 'kill him, kill him' until dragged away by rescuers, believed to be neighbours.

The injured man managed to crawl back into the house with a badly gashed head, a broken nose, damaged ear and bad bruising as Lloyd, his sister and Crampton fled.

They were arrested soon afterwards.

The attack took place while Shaun Lloyd's former partner, their two children and her mother were inside the house, the court heard.

Miss Sharonjit Bahia, defending Shaun Lloyd, revealed he realised his problems were drink and anger management and had voluntarily completed a ten-week course in an attempt to rehabilitate himself.

The two women had acted out of character and were deeply ashamed, it was said. Neither had previous convictions.

Shaun Lloyd from Clarence Close, Plymouth, pleaded guilty to causing grievous bodily harm with intent, criminal damage and possession of an offensive weapon and was jailed for five years three months.

His sister of Broadway West, Walsall, and Crampton from South Road, Tipton, both admitted affray and were each locked up for ten months.

All three were banned from any further contact with the victim and his family.
