Yasir Hussain: Lower Gornal murder suspect appears in court

A man has appeared in court charged with murdering father-of-four Yasir Hussain.

Nabeel Choudhary, from Hope Street, West Bromwich, was also accused of possession of an imitation firearm with criminal intent when he appeared before Wolverhampton Crown Court today.

The 20-year-old spoke only to confirm his name and was remanded in custody.

A plea and case management hearing was set for February 25 next year.

A trial has provisionally been set to start at the same court on June 3 with a time estimate of two weeks.

Mr Hussain, aged 34 and from Nelson, near Burnley, was knifed to death in Central Drive, Lower Gornal, at around 9.30pm on December 4.

Ojala Pendle wrote on Facebook: "The family have lost a dear father, son and a brother."
