The raid uncovered a cannabis set up, quantities of suspected cocaine and heroin, the money and the weapon at the property in Brades Road on Monday.

West Midlands Police confirmed it had sent all of the findings off for forensic examination and said an investigation was underway to trace the owner.

A force spokesperson said: "Some of our brave Sandwell neighbourhood officers entered a property just before 1pm after receiving information on drug dealing.

"As well as finding a small cannabis set up in the kitchen, officers also discovered a substantial amount of suspected Class A drugs including cocaine and heroin.

"As if that wasn’t enough, a further search uncovered a live firearm with several rounds of ammunition and thousands of pounds worth of cash.

"The unarmed officers sent all of the findings for forensic examination and an investigation is now underway to trace the owner and bring them to justice.

"That’s another gun off the streets, thanks to the public’s help."
