Those are the stark words of a distraught mother whose teenage daughter suffered horrific injuries in a dog attack.

Chloe Lloyd, aged 12, had her bottom lip violently ripped off while walking down an alleyway from school, just metres from her home.

And the dog - described as a cross between a Husky and Akita - is still on the loose.

Chloe’s mother, Claire Forrester, 32, fears it could strike again and is pleading for the public’s help to catch it.

She said: “It has been a horrific ordeal as a mother, to think that dog could have killed Chloe.

"There is a lot of kids that play around this area and this dog could attack someone else.

“Someone must know something about the dog and owner.

"Everyone knows one another’s business around here but no one has come forward so far.

"The dog would have gone home covered in blood so someone knows whose dog it is.”

The shocking incident happened in Orslow Walk, Wolverhampton, on October 29 around 3.35pm.

Chloe bravely managed to fight off the dangerous animal before making a dash for the safety of her home, with blood pouring down her face.

Claire said: “Chloe was walking back from school on a Friday afternoon and dropped some homework on the floor.

“The next thing, this dog lunged at Chloe and attacked her. it literally bit off her lip and clawed at her nose and cheek and then just sat there starring at her.

“I thought Chloe had been attacked by a person when she came in and she couldn’t speak at first due to the shock.”

Chloe, who attends Wednesfield High School, was rushed to Birmingham Children’s Hospital where she spent the next two weeks in recovery.

She was discharged on Monday but has been back and fourth since then to have check-ups.

The extent of Chloe’s injuries means she will require plastic surgery, which will start in three or four months time.

And while Chloe is now on the mend, Claire admits Chloe will be scarred for life by the ordeal.

“Chloe is struggling to sleep and is having nightmares of the ordeal,” said Claire.

“She is scared to leave the house and hasn’t been back to school since the ordeal. She is worried what people will say about her face.”

Chloe has aspirations to take up figure skating but has put those plans on hold following the attack.

She is now scared of other dogs and Claire has to get rid of the family dog as a result.

Police are still trying to trace the dog and a potential owner.

Recalling her ordeal, Chloe said: “I was on my way home and heard this weird noise behind me. I turned to look what it was and there was nothing there.

“I went to get my phone out my blazer pocket and my homework fell on the floor. I went down to pick up it up, got it, and I heard something running.

“I thought it was some kids but then something clamped on my face.

“When I opened my eyes it was a dog. I had to grab it by its collar and kick it underneath to get it off me.

“Then blood was just pouring everywhere, I couldn’t even think straight. I just ran home.”

Chloe described the dog as black and white, and a cross between a Husky and Japanese Akita.

“It is such a distinctive dog,” said Claire.

Chloe’s injuries meant she had to be tube-fed and is having to eat liquidised food due for the time being.

But Claire has paid tribute to staff at Birmingham Children’s Hospital for helping to repair Chloe’s injuries.

“They have done an amazing job to help Chloe recover from where she was until now,” she said.
