The group knocked at the victim's door pretending to be undercover cops - only to burst inside the house wearing ski masks and pulling their hoods up.

The woman was held down by one of the men while the others rifled through the house stealing a large quality of cash.

Police launched an investigation after the raid on the victim's home in Devon Road, Willenhall, on Tuesday evening.

The robbery happened between 5pm and 5.45pm.

The robbers were described as being in their 30s with dark clothing.

Detective Constable Nicola Williams, from West Midlands Police, said: "Fortunately the woman wasn't injured in what would have been a terrifying ordeal.

"She opened the door to what she believed to be trusted members of the community and has now been left frightened in her own home.

"We are urging anyone who may have any information or who has witnessed anything to come forward."
