Child rapist jailed for 26 years after 'sickening' attacks on young girls in Rugeley
A sick sex predator has been sentenced to 26 years in jail for the rape and sexual assault of two young girls aged under 13.
Eamonn Doyle, aged 66, known as Paul, was sentenced at Stafford Crown Court after being found guilty of the rape of the girls. Both children were aged under 13 when the offences took place, which spanned 15 years.
Doyle, of Coulthwaite Way, Rugeley, committed the attacks between 2002 and 2017 in the Staffordshire town.
He was found guilty of three counts of rape of a girl under 13, two counts of assaulting a girl under 13 by penetration and one count of assaulting a girl under 13 by touching.
He was also found guilty of causing a child aged under 13 to watch or look at an image of sexual activity.
Detective Constables Martin Ottey and Cathryn Holland worked on the case.
Following the sentencing on Monday, DC Martin Ottey said: “We welcome this lengthy sentence as these were sickening crimes.
“However, it is the bravery of the girls in disclosing what happened to them that should be commended.
“We hope it encourages other victims and gives them the confidence to speak out.
“We wish to stress that help and support is available to victims of sexual offences and they are not alone.
“We continue to work closely with partner agencies who provide specialist support.”
