Three teenagers arrested as car jacking victim continues to fight for life
Three teenagers have been arrested after a man was stabbed in an attempted car jacking in Birmingham.
Two boys, aged 15 and 17, have been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and a 15-year-old girl has been arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to rob.
The 22-year-old victim continues to fight for his life in hospital after he was left in a critical condition when he was stabbed in the stomach and chest yesterday.
The man was found collapsed by a friend in an alleyway off Heeley Road, Selly Oak, after he was chased by two teenagers who demanded the keys to his car at around 6.30am.
The would-be car jackers are believed to be the same people who attacked a group in nearby Selly Hill Road earlier in the day.
Detective Inspector Caroline Corfield, from West Midlands Police, today appealed for anyone with information or video footage to come forward.
“This is a shocking incident which has left a young man seriously ill in hospital," Det Insp Corfield said.
“We believe the same offenders attacked a group in Selly Hill Road earlier in the day.
"In that incident, offenders described as black men aged around 18 and wearing scarves across their faces demanded money before fleeing empty-handed.
“We have recovered a silver Nissan Micra with a large dent in the roof which we believe to have been involved in both incidents and I am appealing for anyone who saw the car yesterday, or who has dash cam footage which could assist our investigation to get in touch.”
The teenage suspects were arrested last night and remained in custody this morning.
