William Billingham denies plunging a blade through eight-year-old Mylee Billingham's chest in his Brownhills home in January.

The 55-year-old did not appear at Birmingham Crown Court on Friday due to illness and has been absent from the dock since then.

Addressing jurors on Tuesday, Judge Paul Farrer QC said: "Mr Billingham was seen, not in the dock, he is physically in the building today.

"But there are still legitimate concerns about whether he is fit to carry on with this case.

"You will understand that this is a very serious allegation and before we do carry on, he needs to be further assessed."

The judge adjourned the case until Wednesday.

Billingham, of Valley View, Brownhills, denies making a threat to kill to Mylee's mother Tracey Taundry and murdering his daughter. The case continues.
