Three people injured after trouble in Walsall

Three people were injured when a fight broke out near homes in a Walsall street.

Police were called to the Birchills area, near Walsall town centre, to reports of an assault in Raleigh Street, today.

The road was blocked off at both ends while officers investigated the incident.

Neighbours said it was believed to be an altercation between two families.

Police confirmed two men, aged 22 and 23, have been arrested in connection with the incident and will be questioned in due course.

Paramedics also attended the scene and treated three casualties said to have suffered non life-threatening injuries.

Officers are appealing for witnesses to the incident. Anyone who saw anything is asked to call police on 101.

West Midlands Police's response team tweeted: "A number of officers are in attendance along with colleagues from West Midlands Ambulance Service. Three people are receiving treatment for non life threatening injuries."
