Teenager in court over hammer attack in Wolverhampton city centre
A teenager charged with attempted murder after a hammer attack has appeared in court.

The 17-year-old, who cannot be named for legal reasons, appeared at Dudley Magistrates' Court yesterday following the assault with a claw hammer in Wolverhampton last Thursday.
Another 17-year-old was left in a critical condition following the incident, which took place in Bilston Street.
The youth will next appear at Wolverhampton Magistrates' Court on July 18.
The victim needed emergency surgery after suffering serious head injuries in the attack, which happened in the Bilston Street underpass at around 8pm.
Police launched an urgent appeal for information following the assault in the underpass which runs below the city centre ring road.
