Wolverhampton Co-op ram-raided leaving shop front wrecked
Robbers smashed through the front of a shop in a dramatic ram-raid.
A car was driven into the Co-op store on Stafford Road, in Fordhouses, Wolverhampton, in the early hours of yesterday.
Once they had forced their way inside, the crooks got away with a cash machine, leaving a scene of carnage behind.
The front of the shop suffered major damage, while bottles, baskets and shelves were left strewn over the floor inside.
Staff were back at the shop, at the Vine Island, yesterday afternoon preparing to re-open.
Police have launched an appeal for information following the ram-raid. Officers will be scouring CCTV footage in a bid to trace the robbers.
A West Midlands Police spokesman said: "Police were called to a ram raid at Co-op Foodstore, Stafford Road, Wolverhampton, at around 2.20am.
"A vehicle was used to drive into the front of the shop and once inside offenders took a cash machine. They then fled the scene."
