Four firearm arrests as armed police swoop in Wolverhampton

Four men have been arrested in an armed police operation in Wolverhampton.

The men were held on suspicion of firearms offences as armed officers swooped in The Scotlands estate and in the car park of Halfords in Dunstall Hill on Friday.

Video posted on social media showed several unmarked police cars at Halfords on Fox's Lane as three men were arrested at around 6.30pm. A mixture of plain-clothed and uniformed officers were at the car park next to the Five Ways Roundabout.

Shortly after crowds gathered two miles away in The Scotlands to watch as firearms officers arrested a fourth man from a property on Keats Road.

A West Midlands Police spokesman said: "Four men were arrested in Wolverhampton yesterday at around 6.30pm on suspicion of firearms offences.

"Three men aged 30, 29 and 29 were arrested on Fox’s Lane after officers stopped two cars that they were travelling in.

"A 31-year-old man was arrested from a nearby address in Keats Road shortly afterwards."

All four men remain in police custody and were due to be interrogated on Saturday afternoon.
