Police said the weight of soil used to grow the illegal drug had left the house 'unsafe' with ceilings at risk of 'falling down'.

West Midlands Police's cannabis disposal team made the find in a house, in Smethwick, on Friday.

Large pipework, electrical wiring and fans were discovered throughout the house in Dibble Road.

Officers called the bid to investigate the find, worth thousands of pounds, a 'high risk operation'.

In one of the rooms pictured in videos posted online, the ceiling was shown being held up with extra wooden struts, such was the weight of the drugs farm above.

Plants were also found in the loft. In total, 226 plants in various stages of growth were discovered.

Officers tweeted footage commenting: "Upstairs bedroom with ceiling and floor held in place by wooden struts.

"[The] whole house was destroyed and unsafe."

They added: "Bottom floor grow with unsafe ceiling. Two floors above both very weak with tonnes of soil.

"High risk operation for us but that’s business as usual."

No arrests have been made at this stage and investigations are ongoing.
