Violence flares between 'machete-wielding' men in Wolverhampton city centre
Armed police descended on Wolverhampton after 'men brandished machetes' during a violent brawl.
Video footage online captured men who appear to be armed with the weapons near Beatties in Victoria Street.
The violence came just hours before a teenage boy was stabbed to death in the Merry Hill area of the city.
The group appear to be shown swinging weapons as the disorder spilled into the road near shops.
The video shows trouble flaring in front of stunned shoppers and motorists close to the junction with Skinner Street.
Just moments later the group flee the scene.
An investigation has been launched by police into the violence which happened at around 3.30pm on Tuesday.
It is believed no-one suffered serious injuries.
A West Midlands Police spokesman said: "Armed police attended after several reports of men armed with machetes.
"It is not thought that anyone was seriously injured and no arrests have been made."
Inquiries are ongoing and anyone with information should call police on 101 quoting log 1611 of 29/5.
People can also call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
The scenes come as leading police bosses say they were working to curb the threat of knife crime.
West Midlands Police and Crime Commissioner, David Jamieson, yesterday said he was aiming to tackle violence across the region.
He claimed £2m is being invested in mentoring schemes to help young people make the right life choices and defuse gang criminality.
A new knife bin was also revealed earlier in the year in Wolverhampton.
The bin near St Chad and St Mark’s Church on Lime Street is the fourth of its kind in Wolverhampton.
The other bins in the city are in Heath Town, Whitmore Reans and Bilston.
