Teen released as murder investigation continues
A teenager arrested over the murder of a pensioner has been released as police continue to investigate.
Arthur Gumbley, aged 87, died after he was attacked during a robbery at his home in Little Aston.
The 17-year-old from Stoke was arrested in Basingstoke, Hampshire, on suspicion of murder last week.
He was questioned in custody, but has since been released while the investigation continues.
Cash and valuable jewellery, including a purse which belonged to Mr Gumbley’s late wife, were stolen during the robbery on November 21 last year.
A valuable Henry VIII Angel gold coin, believed to have been forged between 1544 and 1547, was also among the hoard, along with a unique gun-shaped knife.
Four men, aged 42, 34, 33 and 29, all from Birmingham, were previously arrested on suspicion of Mr Gumbley’s murder.
They were released on bail while the investigation continues.
