A man has been stabbed after a car was attacked with baseball bats at a petrol station after violence erupted
Armed police stormed a road after a man was stabbed and a car had its windows smashed by a mob wielding baseball bats.
The victim tried to flee the group after a car attempted to mow him down as he walked along a busy Tipton street.
He jumped into a passing car before the group in the other car gave chase.
Both vehicles pulled up in Dudley Port before the group got out and smashed windows of the Vauxhall Corsa with the man inside.
It had parked up on a patrol station forecourt.
In the melee the victim, a 31-year-old man, was stabbed in the leg and also suffered a head injury.
An investigation was under way after police arrived at the A461 in Dudley Port on Wednesday night and cordoned off the scene.
Police believe the violence was sparked after a car drove at a man walking along nearby Park Lane East at around 7.50pm.
Armed cops descended on Dudley Port as the drama unfolded close to homes and a supermarket.
Ambulance staff helped treated the injured man.
He was taken to hospital for treatment for injuries which are not thought to be life-threatening.
The cordon was in place on the Texaco petrol station.
Officers locked down the road and filling station around a black Vauxhall Corsa with its windows smashed out.
This blocked the route off between the Texaco petrol station and Alisha supermarket.
Traffic was later allowed back along the route as officers made inquires with bystanders and those living nearby.
