Police car flips over in dramatic M6 chase
The M6 was closed for several hours after a police car flipped over during a dramatic motorway chase.
The car ended up down an embankment after a crash between junctions 13 and 14, near Stafford, while police were pursuing a suspected stolen car last night.
A black Ford Fiesta attempted a dangerous manoeuvre before it collided with the police car at around 10pm.
The driver of the Fiesta, aged 28 and from Liverpool, fled the scene but was later arrested in a nearby field.
Both drivers were treated at the scene but nobody was seriously injured and the M6 northbound was closed for several hours while debris was cleared off the road.
A Staffordshire Police spokesman said: "We received an alert of a stolen vehicle travelling between junctions 13 and 14 of the M6 northbound at around 9:50pm last night.
"Officers from the Central Motorway Police Group (CMPG) were subsequently deployed.
"Unfortunately a collision occurred with the police vehicle when the black Ford Fiesta, which is believed to have been stolen, attempted to make a dangerous manoeuvre.
"The driver, a 28-year-old man from Liverpool, then fled the vehicle, but was arrested in an adjacent field for dangerous driving. No one was injured in the collision."
