Goose shot in head with crossbow bolt in Smethwick
A goose was shot in the head with a crossbow in Smethwick in a shocking attack.
The injured Canada goose was spotted on a canal in North Bridge Road.
The bird was caught by officers and taken to the RSPCA’s Birmingham Animal Hospital to be cared for.
The goose, found at the start of the month, has recovered well and was released back into the wild on Tuesday.
RSPCA Inspector Mike Scargill said: “This could very easily have been fatal. It is very worrying that someone has deliberately done this. The goose would have suffered.”
