Alleged rape victim ‘shadow of herself’
A woman was left ‘a shadow of herself’ after being allegedly raped by celebrity financial advisor Frank Cochran, a court heard.
Cochran, aged 60, who runs Wolverhampton-based FSC Investment Services Limited, is on trial at Stafford Crown Court accused of allegations including five counts of rape and one of sexual assault.
Giving evidence the alleged victim, who described Cochran as a ‘larger than life character’, told the court his actions had left her feeling ‘humiliated’.
She said: “I was a shadow of myself. I couldn’t think, didn’t believe I was worthy or beautiful [and thought] I was a horrible person, I was frightened.”
Under questioning from prosecutor Miss Michelle Colborne QC, the complainant added: “I felt humiliated.”
A jury at the crown court was previously told by Miss Colborne that Cochran, aged 60, had ‘sexually, emotionally and physically’ abused the alleged victim.
The businessman faces a string of allegations – including five charges of rape and one of sexual assault – but denies all of them.
Miss Colborne said Cochran claimed the allegations had been ‘invented’ and that he had called the complainant ‘a fantasist’.
As well as his position at FSC Investment Services, businessman Cochran is also a director of Celebrity Financial Planning Limited and Floodlight Wealth Management Limited.
In 2009, Celebrity Financial Planning was named as being Wolverhampton Wanderers FC’s ‘official wealth management provider’, aimed at arranging deals for players.
However, that arrangement ended several years ago.
Cochran, of Marston, Church Eaton, Stafford, was also formerly a prominent member of the Black Country Chamber of Commerce.
The trial, which is due to finish at the end of next week, continues.
