Man shot in the head during brutal attack in West Bromwich
A man was shot in the head during a brutal attack involving three masked men.
Police are urgently appealing for witnesses after the shooting in West Bromwich.
The 28-year-old man was sat in his parked car, in Burlington Road, on Thursday evening when he was approached by the men, who demanded his money and keys.
The victim told police they dragged him from his car and physically attacked him.
He then saw a flash and could not remember what happened after.
He was taken to hospital for treatment to a gunshot injury to his head, which was serious but not life-threatening.
Detective Sergeant Chris Jones, from West Midlands Police, said: "This appears to be a very violent unprovoked attack, which could easily have had tragic consequences.
"We are keen to appeal to anyone who saw anything."
Alfred Clark, who lives in the area, said he did not hear anything on the night but that he felt the area had gone downhill in recent years.
The 75-year-old said: "I've lived here since 1966 and it used to be a very nice place - a residential area. But from last month there seems to have been a lot of burglaries around here.
"I hope whoever attacked this man, I hope police find them and put them in jail."
