Police warn residents to secure homes after woman killed at Wolverhampton house
Detectives have warned people to secure their homes amid fears after a woman was found murdered at a house in Wolverhampton.
A post mortem has failed to determine how a 38-year-old woman was killed in Goldthorn Hill, near Penn, on Friday afternoon.
A murder investigation was launched after the woman's body was found inside a two-storey detached home.
The victim, believed to be a wife and mother, had been assaulted and the house searched with some items taken, detectives revealed.
West Midlands Police issued a statement urging people to be 'extra vigilant regarding home security'.
Officers were conducting extra patrols in the Wolverhampton area over the weekend.
Detective Chief Inspector Chris Mallett, from the force's homicide unit, said: "We have a team of officers working on this murder inquiry to establish what has led to this woman's death, and our efforts are concentrated on finding the person responsible.
"We are keeping an open mind as to the motive for the attack."
Anyone with information can call police on 101.
