A man who has stabbed to death at a flat in in Dudley has been named as 'lovely and caring' father Jaskaran Kang.

Police have launched a murder investigation after the attack at the flat above the Mini Mart convenience shop on Saturday.

Jaskaran Kang, aged 24, from Handsworth, was pronounced dead at the scene after ambulance crew members tried to save him.

Emergency services were called to the flat, in Stourbridge Road, at around 2.30am.

A post mortem examination is due to take place later on today, say West Midlands Police..

His family is appealing for people to come forward with information to the police.

In a heartfelt tribute, his family said: “He was a lovely and caring hard-working father, son and brother who has been taken too soon.

"Everyone loved him and the family and community are in shock and we just want justice.”

Floral tributes have been left at the scene after news of the fatal stabbing.

Detective Inspector Justin Spanner, from the Homicide Team, said: “A murder investigation is underway and we are fully committed to finding out who was responsible.

“I am appealing for anyone who may have been in the area at around that time and saw anything unusual going on.

“If you have any information about what happened leading up to the attack or think you know who is responsible, please call police on 101 giving log number 243 of 6 January. Alternatively, call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111."
