Police discovered 70 plants after initially heading to reports of a burglary at the home.

Once inside the house, in Wilderness Lane, police uncovered the major operation producing the class B drug.

The farm was found inside the home which is near Q3 Academy, formally Dartmouth High School.

Police said the whole house had been converted and was a 'real fire risk waiting to happen'.

A West Midlands Police spokesman said: "We were called to initial reports of a burglary in process at an address in Wildnerness Lane at just after midnight. When officers arrived they found a cannabis factory with around 70 plants inside. There have been no arrests."

Photographs of the scene showed dozens of cannabis plants and cannabis buds in a plastic bag.

Force Support Unit tweeted: "Attended report of burglary in progress and found another cannabis factory.

"Whole house had been converted and was a real fire risk and accident waiting to happen. Please let us know if you suspect one."
