Couple deny Shrewsbury fraud charges

A man has appeared in court accused of defrauding a social club in Shrewsbury of more than £78,000.

Graeme Fidler is accused of defrauding Harlescott Social Club of the money while working as a steward.

The 50-year-old appeared at Shrewsbury Crown Court yesterday and denied fraud dating back to between February 2012 and December 2016.

Fidler appeared in court beside his 39-year-old wife Julie Fidler, who both live in Pickhill, Burlton, near Shrewsbury.

They both also each deny charges of concealing criminal property and transferring criminal property.

The case was adjourned for a trial to take place at Shrewsbury Crown Court on May 1 next year.

Graeme Fidler was given conditional bail and his wife was granted unconditional bail.
