The fundraising boxes, which were raising funds for the Royal British Legion as part of its annual Poppy Appeal, were stolen from several locations across the city centre.

Now, Royal British Legion bosses have spoken out against what they call the despicable thefts.

The first charity box was snatched last Wednesday from a Greggs on Cannock Road in The Scotlands.

Since then, it has been revealed that a further six boxes have been stolen from the area.

Alan Evans, of the Wednesfield and Wood End Royal British Legion Club, based in Vicarage Road, Wednesfield, said: “Following reports of a poppy box theft at Greggs store, I regret to say there has been a further six poppy boxes stolen this week.”
