Norman Taylor, 43, appeared before magistrates in Dudley today over Saturday's call.

Unemployed Taylor, of Spiral Close, Halesowen, was charged with making a bomb hoax to communicate false information.

Taylor did not indicate a plea and only spoke to confirm his details.

He was remanded in custody to appear before Wolverhampton Crown Court on October 2.

Dudley Group NHS Foundation Trust, which runs the hospital, off Pensnett High Street, said some patients inside the emergency department were moved outside while the arrest was made.

People were stopped from leaving or entering the building during the drama, which happened around 10am.
