V Festival arrests: Boy, 17, arrested for trying to smuggle 200 PILLS through gates

A 17-year-old boy has been arrested for trying to smuggle 200 pills into V Festival.

Routine bag searches at the entrance gate at Weston Park discovered the 200 tablets in a bag he was carrying into the event.

The 17-year-old from Stone has been arrested for possession with intent to supply and has been taken to Watling Police Station for questioning.

Thousands of people arrived at the festival today to set up camp, and there have been queues to to thorough bag searches.

In a separate incident, 28 MDMA pills were seized from another teenager.

The 16-year-old boy was ejected from the event and referred to youth offending for rehabilitation.

Inspector Andrew Shackleton, onsite commander of the V Festival, said: "News like this proves that in partnership with the event's security team we are very effectively preventing drugs coming onto site.

"If anyone thinks they can bring drugs onto site, remember your bag will be searched and our sniffer dogs will come and say hello too."

Some 85,000 people will be heading to the festival this weekend which is being headlined by Jay-Z and Pink.
